It’s Simple, Simply Put!

In my previous blog, there was an idea that “Christianity is simple, simply put.” What does this mean? Before we can carry on any further, we need to understand the word humble.  Humble means having or showing a modest or low estimate of one’s importance or worth. It basically states that we’re not all that! America, unfortunately, is an egotistical country. I can make my relationship with my wife better. I could stop smoking if I wanted. If I work overtime, I can get us out of this financial crisis.”  Hate to burst your bubble, but no YOU can’t! We were put on this earth to be a light for which Jesus Christ can show His glory. That has nothing to do with us. Pride is what we have when we make the “I can” statements separate from Christ’s power.  Pride says the Devil has your soul. Humility, on the contrary, means that we abide in the spirit of Jesus Christ. As humans, we are the flesh of spiritual warfare. What devours my heart, as well as many others, is how we allow the Devil to creep into our hearts and tell us that we are undeserving of God’s love. From the first breath of man, the Devil tempted us and won in the garden.  However, we forget that the Father gave life to us. “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1: 26-27).

Understand, however, the presence of sin. “There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10). Sin sprouts in every human being in the world. I have sinned, you have sinned, President Barack Obama has sinned, Pope John Paul II sinned, etc… You might think, “Okay, case closed. I guess we’re all riding the highway to hell.” NO! Not over Jesus Christ’s dead body! Simply put, God wants our time and attention and faith. Look at your financial crisis and have faith in God. Look at murder from one end of the earth to the other and have faith in God. Look at the consequences in our world caused by sin and have faith in God. It’s simple, simply put. Do me favor; go drive a car on an interstate highway with a blindfold covering your eyes. Just kidding don’t you dare! But how preposterous is that idea? However, spiritually speaking, we drive with blindfolds covering our eyes. Spend time talking to God throughout the day, let Him lead you, and see for yourself. Hand the steering wheel over, recline your seat, look to the Heavens, and enjoy the ride. Christianity is simple, simply put!

Ignorance is Bliss???

Male Christians, what did you do during the halftime show this year, while Beyonce seduced the world? Female Christians, how about the book series Fifty Shades of Grey? Our president of the United States of America openly supports homosexuality and abortion. Just recently, our heartstrings have been tugged after two random acts of hatred in a movie theater and Sandy Hook Elementary School. Only, to later find out, there may have been a conspiracy involved! Is there a theme here? A reverberating theme? How is it that our world knows exactly what buttons to push to exploit us all? See if this statement gives any clues: “And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him” (Revelation 12:9). The Deceiver, Satan, and the Antichrist lurk in every corner of the world. The true question is, why is this a surprise to Christians? God has revealed to the world through scripture the mayhem that would enter our world because of Satan. “Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God” (Galatians 5: 19-21).

Do you partake in any of the previously mentioned activities? I know I have. Does this mean that we should forget about Heaven and start the party now? Wouldn’t the Deceiver love for you to believe in this false statement.  Christianity is simple, simply put. Please do not spend countless hours in your life, as I have, chasing righteousness. Righteousness is a born inheritance. Nothing you do on this earth will improve your status! Jesus Christ had to come so we can enter the kingdom of Heaven because we are engulfed in sin.

“Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified” (Galatians 2:16).

God gave to Moses, as laws to be followed, the Ten Commandments. Yes, this is true, but this is not a hierarchy of which we can climb. These commandments can be thought of, instead, as a mirror to reflect upon and improve. God hates all sin. There does not appear to be a degree of sin, but just sin. Therefore, the only way to enter the kingdom is to give your heart, soul, and mind to the acceptance that Christ died so all of our sins would be forgiven.

Now, I want to shift gears a little and sail out into uncharted waters, to the place where most Christians dare not adventure.  This is a place where I’ve spent many hours, and I suggest the same to all believers because the time has come where we will face persecution in America. Recently, I had to ask myself the serious question, “If I must make a decision today to confess my acceptance as Christ as my savior and die, or choose life on earth as it is, what would I choose?” Wow, I have always believed in Jesus Christ, or so I declared, but would I leave behind my wife, one-year old, five-year old, and ten-year old, to go be with Christ now. My answer is an unwavering yes now that I’ve processed the idea. Christians read scripture and look at the signs. “For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:5). “Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, the founder and leader of the Philippines-based Restorationist Christian church,” claims to be the messiah. And his claims certainly carry weight, as he has accumulated over “six million followers” who believe that he is Christ, according to an ABC news interview on this false profit.

What about a second sign given from God that the end times are near, that of wars. “And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet” (Matthew 24:6). Reports from Wikipedia.org indicate that beginning on April 27th, 1978, the People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan took power in a conflict/war that to this day continues. The fatalities in this war alone have skyrocketed to over three million. This is just one of nine wars ongoing that has caused the death of over one thousand soldiers and innocent civilians. Notably, there are an additional thirty-five wars prolonging into today as well.

In end times, God also warned, “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines” (Matthew 24:7). It’s quite clear that nation has risen against nation, but what does God mean by famines? It 2011, in Somalia, death counts were reaching 750,000 people from the “worst drought in over 60 years.”

“And pestilences, and earthquakes, in various places” (Matthew 24:7). As of February 4, 2013, there were 230 reported earthquakes around the world in the past several days with a magnitude rating of over 2.5.

How can you and I passively sit here as we watch the world implode? There are no questions left; we are facing end times and will be persecuted for our beliefs. Does that feverishly scare you or excite you about the promises of the Lord? Ignorance is NOT bliss! We have got to educate and make disciples. The time is now! Combine all this information and look for the parallel connection between our world today and what the Bible describes as end times, and the result should be this: look to God, for the time is coming!

This information is not meant to scare readers, but inform them, as I have been informed. Our Jesus Christ, who is our Savior, has already defeated this evil. We, His people, need not worry for it is written “21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses[i] and the prophets long ago. 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus” (Romans 3: 21-26).

Ignorance is not bliss; in fact in can cost us eternal happiness. Ignorance is not bliss; unfortunately countless Americans put full trust in our earthly leaders and fall unsuspectingly into the Deceiver’s trap! Ignorance is not bliss; for it is written:And he said to man, ’Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding’ ” (Job 28:28). Look at the clear picture of salvation painted for us on the cross. It was almost a replica of people in our world today. A crowd of sinners, unbelievers harassed Jesus; meanwhile, two sinners were also crucified with Jesus and were justly punished. Yet one thief continues to test the Lord Jesus, while the other thief asked Jesus to “remember him in the Kingdom” (Luke 23: 40-43). Being corrupt to the last minutes of life, this thief’s understanding of God’s grace afforded him a seat with Jesus in paradise. Our God knows our heart; let our hearts know Jesus Christ.
